City of Osceola announces precautionary measures

The City of Osceola has announced new procedures at city hall due to the COVID-19.

No one under the age of 18 is permitted in the building. If anyone has a child (children) with them they must use the drive-through.

Only one person may enter the building at a time to pay a bill or request account information.

All payment arrangements are to be done by phone. To make arrangements call 870-563-5245 and ask for Stacey Travis.

If anyone is already sick or showing signs of illness they are asked to use the drive-through window.

To further assist with the CDC’s “social distancing” the Osceola Municipal Light and Power is asking Osceola customers to consider utilizing its online services during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The following City of Osceola municipal properties will be closed until Monday, March 30: Osceola Community Center, Rosenwald Community Center, Osceola Sports Complex, Florida Park, Rosenwald Park and Irma Belcher Park.

The Osceola/South Mississippi County Chamber of Commerce staff will have limited contact with the public through March 29. Visitors are asked to knock on the door or call ahead to speak to staff.

Also, the Osceola Police Department will have limited public access with all jail visitation being suspended until further notice.

The department’s lobby will remain open to the public.
