I'VE GOT JOY, JOY, JOY, JOY

For some reason I’ve had this song running through my head all day. As most of you know, I can not sing, but I love to pretend I can. I haven’t sang this particular song since I was in vacation bible school about 50 years ago. Yet, today it was all over the place. Finally, I decided someone must be telling me something and I looked up the exact words. There is a pretty powerful message in this simple children’s song.

Despite the international pandemic that is keeping us all worried, there is joy in the world and joy in our hearts. We, as a nation, have so many things to be grateful for with freedom at the top of the list. Yes, we have been asked to wear a mask and we have been asked to stay home, but we still have freedom to worship and the freedom to speak. These are the two rights we can not allow anyone, not even the government, to take away from us. And, that’s the reason we must vote.

I have four close friends who tested positive with COVID-19 this week, two are in the hospital. I am still hooked to an oxygen machine. Trust me when I say the coronavirus is real. Yet, there is still plenty of joy. Children are being born everyday; couples are exchanging wedding vows; grandparents are baking cookies; souls are being saved.

So, grab ahold of the joy in your life this week and tell the devil to go sit on a tack. As a matter of fact, sing it until you drive everyone crazy. This pandemic will stop claiming lives! It will come to an end!
