Osceola/Wilson Bus Stops built in memory of Ruby Harris

Wednesday, April 14, 2021

Joe Harris, Jr. had five bus shelters constructed in Osceola and two in Wilson, all strategically located to serve as shelters for children at bus stops. Harris and his late wife, Ruby, discussed the idea more than a year and a half ago, looking for a way to keep children from having to stand out in the rain and cold while they wait on the school bus. The bus stops buildings all bear the inscription “in memory of Ruby Harris.” The late former educator passed away due to breast cancer late last year.
