Governor Hutchinson Provides Friday, April 9 COVID-19 Update

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Asa Hutchinson provided Friday, April 9 update on Arkansas's COVID-19 response.

In its Friday update, the Arkansas Department of Health reported 178 new cases; 1,732 active cases; 160 hospitalized, which is up 19 from Thursday; 23 on ventilators, which is unchanged from Thursday; deaths are -1 today, for a total of 5,661; a total of 331,882 cases; PCR tests, 3,692; antigen tests, 673.

The Health Department reported that the top counties for new cases are Benton, 30; Washington, 28; and Pulaski, 20.

Governor Hutchinson released the following statement on today’s COVID-19 numbers:

“We have administered 154,000 more vaccines doses since last week. 36% of Arkansans 16 and older have received at least one COVID-19 shot. That's encouraging, but to achieve community immunity and beat COVID-19, we must increase those numbers.”
