Governor Hutchinson Provides Monday, Dec. 7 COVID-19 Update

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Asa Hutchinson provided Monday, Dec. 7 update on Arkansas's COVID-19 response.

In its Monday update, the Arkansas Department of Health reported 1,118 new cases; 18,057 active cases; 1,053 hospitalized, which is down 23 from Sunday; 182 on ventilators, which is up 3 from Sunday; deaths added today, 53, for a total of 2,713; a total of 172,042 cases; 132,433 recoveries; PCR tests, 9,009; antigen tests, 687.

The Health Department reported that the top counties for new cases are Washington, 153; Pulaski, 137; Greene, 97; Benton, 80; and Sebastian, 53.

Governor Hutchinson released the following statement on today’s COVID-19 numbers:

“Yesterday recorded our highest total number of deaths since the COVID-19 pandemic began. This high number of our friends and neighbors losing their lives is a tough reminder of our responsibility to follow the public health guidelines each day. Tomorrow, I will be in Saline County meeting with community leaders on local strategies.”
