Happy Birthday America!

Wednesday, July 1, 2020

Happy Birthday America! 2020 has not exactly been a smooth road. Your soldiers are still fighting in the Middle East, the coronavirus has claimed the lives of thousands and your citizens are rioting in the streets for justice. Yet, Americans are still strong and millions are uniting for peace.

It has been 244 years since John Hancock signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 to gain the United State’s independence from England.

At that time, John Adams said, “I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure it will cost us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these states. Yet through all the gloom I see the rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is worth all the means. This is our day of deliverance.”

He knew of the sacrifices men and women would face for generations to come. Yet, he did not waver... He knew the journey would be worth the fight.

Thousands and thousands of lives have been lost since that day, yet the flag still waves proudly and America is still free. Yes, racism, prejudices and inequality still exist, but so does freedom of speech and freedom of religion!

Thomas Paine said, “If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.” Unfortunately, history has proven each generation must fight its own wars. This generation is no different.

Yes, Independence Day is about the birth of a great nation, but it’s also a celebration of our freedom and a tribute to those who have died defending its honor.

Have a safe and happy holiday...and thanks to all you veterans out there.

Happy Birthday America!
